Rheem has a new partnership that's bringing exciting innovation to heat pump technology. In this video, Matt Risinger, master builder, discusses a Rheem hot water heater that features a Cat5 connection so that the water heater can talk to the nest and the nest can control the temperature on the hot water heater. When you leave the home, the hot water heater doesn't need to maintain a 120-degree F setpoint. When Nest knows its human will return in an hour, it will begin to raise the temperature again.Rheem's gen-3 heat-pump water heater has a 2.45 energy factor. Shorter in size, it fits into spaces better. It features an 8700 BTU heat pump for faster hot water deliver. Economically, it has a 12-year warranty and a 2-year ROI. Risinger explains additional benefits involved including what the energy factor really means, how the unit delivers cold, dehumidified air to the home, and leak sensing technology that delivers an alert automatically so that the unit can be turned off until it is repaired.Rheem also introduced a system that links the water heater and the air conditioner. A freon line coming from the air conditioner and it will dump excess water into the water heater. If it cannot be used, it will drain to the outside. Watch the Rheem space for continued advances on the concept
