Matt Risinger does a quick video here to describe a renovation job they're going on a home that's only 10 years old. In trying to increase the energy efficiency of the home, they're changing the house from traditional fiberglass insulation to spray foam up at the attic level, stopping that air leakage that previously existed. If you have a traditional large area like this pull-down attic door, that can cause a tremendous amount of air loss if the staircase is not well insulated. Risginer shows how this large area was not insulated at all and discusses the air loss and how to spot or fix these problems if you have this type of attic in your own home or one you're considering building or buying.
