Brent and his team do a lot of work restoring older windows. Back in his Pennsylvania Farmhouse video he talked about the unique windows on that project and today will bring us back there to take a deep-dive into what makes a great historic window. Windows have the ability to add character to the home.
The window Brent explores is comprised of heavy timbers that carry the stone and create a structural framework that sticks out about two inches. These windows are comprised of solid oak, timbered beams that allow them to twist and move for an extra touch. The single-pane glass has a putty glazing and has been weather-stripped to last a long time – up to 200 years! On the inside of the window, catch a glimpse of the wide oak windows that will never rot, and peer out the restoration glass that has subtlety that makes them look like they did many years ago.
