HomeWhat happens when a window LEAKS? Testing an install
Water intrusion in windows is a major problem. With what you're installing today, how do you know if it will fail down the road? In this video, master builder, Matt Risinger demonstrates on a recently installed Marvin window. We see the slope of the install of the sill, waterproofing of the window was done all around the inside, and the window is set up on a couple of horseshoe shims. By squirting water on the sill as if the window had a leak, here's what we see. Moving to the outside of the home, even with a flange on the outside, nailed tightly, the water is coming down over the top of the Delta Flashing. Check out this interesting video of what this is supposed to look like—and in this case, does.
