Wade is with John Pace at the Versatex training facility to bring us a few tips and tricks. Here are few:
1. Place a little bit of glue inbetween the joints while they dry (just about three to four minutes) test the joints in the meantime.
2. Is it oversized? If so, grab some sandpapaper and run it through the joint once or twice. Doing so allows you to close the joint without a lot of force.
3. How important is the glue? Just use a little. The glue is crucial, but it's more about the type of glue, not the amount.
4. Put a bead of low-expansion polyeurthane foam around the inside of the cavity.
5. One of John's favorite products: Solarseal. This tripolymer adhesive sealant has two functions. It's a sealant, so it'll stick to anything, but it's also flexible, which becomes really important when working with PVC. And you can cut it and then re-fuse it. Use it wherever you're using a sealant in the field.
6. Shiplap or half-lap your joints to provide more surface area on the glue.
7. You can never overfasten your Trimboard. Whatever the recommended fastening, double it, like Wade does.
8. Spray your clothes with Static Guard for protection when working.
