HomeTermimesh - Non Chemical Termite PreTreatment for Slab Foundations
Termites can happen to a house that is one year old or 50 years old. This video talks about how to best prevent termite infestation of a home. Matt Risinger and a Termimesh representative, discuss the various options and why one should be seriously considered. In the past, it was normal for a couple hundred gallons of a termiticide was poured around the foundation of a house to act as a chemical barrier. Surprisingly, 400 million gallons are still poured in the U.S. annually and more surprising is that it breaks down in a few years, causing the need for reapplication of termiticide regularly. Discussion in the video turns to how termites actually enter a home and the reality that, no matter what preventative product is used, ongoing inspection is critical. Termimesh is installed at approximately mid height of the slab, which is shown on the video, so that when concrete is poured, termites cannot go around the product, in effect locking them out from the home. When looking for a way in, they're relegated to going up the outside of the slab where they are easily seen and taken care of. While Termimesh won't prevent termites from existing under the concrete slab, they will provide a non-chemical barrier to keep them from infiltrating into the home.
