Want a secret weapon? It's LSL studs. In this video, Matt Risinger, master builder is in a house under construction with ultra-modern details including steel board form walls, walls of glass and lots of smooth drywall. In a house like this you need LSL studs. In the past they were used on tall wall applications or just in kitchen walls where there is cabinetry. In this house, there are very low tolerances. LSL studs are super dead flat and super straight. You do not see any imperfections. Made by both Louisiana Pacific and Weyerhaeuser, this house uses Weyerhaeuser, Risinger's preference. When we sync and nail with a Hitachi nail gun, we have no problems with Weyerhaeuser, however if reframing with the Louisiana Pacific version they're pretty dense and we often have to finish those nails off with a hammer. LSL studs command a premium of as much as 30 to 60% however, the value will be captured in the finish quality of the house.
