Have you ever seen a house with light pouring across the walls and it showed every imperfection in the drywall? In this video, Matt Risinger talks about a product he recommends using Timberstrand® Laminated Strand Lumber (LSL) Studs from iLevel by Weyerhaeuser, a man-made 2x4 stud product that makes an absolutely super-flat wall. In this video, Risinger is in a house with a lot of built-ins and countertops, and in those areas, you want really flat walls so that's where these studs are used. They're simply tiny chunks of wood pressed together to create an uber-flat stud. They are a little more money, perhaps 2-3 times the price of a regular stud, but you don't need to use them everywhere. Risinger covers using these studs for walls in places like kitchens, studies, bathrooms, and other areas of the home where there are built-ins.
