Hooks are the underutilized titans of the storage world. Easy to incorporate into both new and existing homes, simple hooks deliver storage options that you may not have considered.
There are many ways and places to use hooks around the house. They are a natural in closets where they can be used to hang belts, purses, bathrobes, and even jewelry. Behind doors in bedrooms, they can make organization easy for toddlers through teens and adults. Near a pool, they are handy for hanging towels and wet suits. Imagination is the only limitation.
For example, the last time I remodeled my house a few years ago, I easily transformed a mudroom into a kid’s drop-off area. By putting up a piece of painted 1" x 4" trim across a 6' wall and using Sugatsune hooks every 6” on center, I transformed a blank and unused space into one of the best storage spaces in the house. The hooks, which are available in a wide range of colors, allow the kids to drop off backpacks, hang dog leashes, lunch packs, wet towels, and clothing away from the view of any visitors.
Sugatsune’s forged brass PXB-BN05 double hook is a great option to keep clutter at bay for improved organization.
Currently, in my under-construction home, I am doing something similar. I’ve placed ¾” plywood on several walls in the garage so I can install Sugatsune hooks at various heights and locations for a variety of uses.
Throughout the house, hooks can be used in closets to keep things ready to go and easily accessible or to organize such things as belts, or as an extra towel holder on the back of doors, especially with a door bumper that holds the door off of the wall by 4” so that the hook does not hit the drywall. Hooks provide an extra place to hang towels, bathing suits, robes, purses—virtually anything that needs to be temporarily stored.
Storage hooks can be used directly on walls as I do in my mudroom, or they can be placed on the inside of cabinet doors, on the back of a door, inside a shower/bath to hang a loofah, or within the bathroom for an extra place to hang towels.
These small workhorses mean no more jackets and backpacks dropped just inside the door and no more wasting time finding dog leashes or other items. Hooks provide improved organization and attractive storage options for everyone in the home and Sugatsune is my go-to for high-quality utility and decorative hooks.
