In this video blog, Matt Risinger offers three reasons he likes working with spray foam insulation when building or remodeling houses. First, you get a complete fill on cavities. In the video, Risinger shows us some 2x4 framed walls and how spray foam has been applied the whole 3.5-inch depth for a total fill. Secondly, he describes the great air sealing properties of spray foam. Air sealing and insulating are extremely important when it comes to the energy efficiency of your home. Spray foam really gives a great seal and can be used in places you can't use traditional insulation, such as in the band joist illustrated in the video. Third, one of the key uses in Risinger's Texas practice—spray foam provides a conditioned attic space on the roof deck. Attics can get so hot, particularly in the south, and proper insulation can lock in more cool air and help resist the hot external air.
