Home Some New and Impressive Stuff from Marvin Windows
When we think of double-hung windows we don't always think "passive house", because it's hard to get a really tight seal. But in this episode of The Build Show we'll see windows on the front that look double hung so they fit in well with the neighborhood design, but in fact they are actually two fixed windows with casements in the center (tri-pane Marvin Elevate collection for the windows on these). Matt Risinger takes us through all the different windows on this house, describing aspects like how fixed glass with triple glazing delivers a great U-factor. There is a more modern addition in the back with a more cutting-edge window design. These are all part of the Marvin Modern line - all fiberglass and great performance (.15 U-factor), super efficient, around double what code requires for Austin, TX. This house is part of a pilot program for new passive houses, so standards are a little bit different and relaxed in certain aspects, and Risinger walks us through those differences in this educational video.
