Home Recessed Andersen 100 Series Windows Best Practice Install Method
There's little that's more dramatic on a home's exterior than the exterior finish and the placement of windows. In this video, Matt Risinger, master builder and stucco contractor Robert Fagerberg use a mock-up of a window installation to show exactly how they install and stucco recessed windows. Given that it is very easy to make errors in installation or cut corners and achieve a not-so-professional result, this video breaks the steps down cleanly. Fagerberg explains the materials used such as Dupont Tyvek FW and why they are important. The two discuss exactly what they are looking at when discussing the steps using the sample board that Fagerberg constructed. The sample board is especially compelling because it is shown unfinished in order for the viewer to see and really grasp each important step in the process. Fagerberg shows tips and tricks for a professional outcome, for example, the addition of foam to keep the weight down and minimize cracking and head flashing and a weep to manage runoff effectively, which Fagerberg calls the "down and out" method of getting rid of water. Check out the video for best practices involved in installing the recessed Anderson 100 series windows. The Anderson 100 windows, combined with the Santa Barbara Mission finish on the stucco is not only water-tight and efficient, it yields stunning results. Follow the install method to achieve the same results on your next build or renovation.
