Home Oversided Custom Master Door
In a recent remodel of a 1940's house, Matt Risinger shows off one of his favorite, and surprisingly not very expensive, elements. His team created an oversized master door that fits the width of the hallway. The door is approximately 4 feet 6 inches wide and reaches the height of the 8-foot ceiling. Ball-bearing hinges were used to handle the heavy weight of the door and to ensure it operates smoothly. Risinger's team installed a solid core Mahogany veneer door that was painted. The door blank cost no more than a few hundred dollars. Watch this video to see the details that were added to this piece to enhance its design and function.
