Home Mechanical Room Tour, Why is a mechanical room important?
In this video, Matt Risinger, master builder, walks us through why having a mechanical room in your home is a great idea. Benefits, for example, include having the equipment housed within an air-conditioned room in the home instead of in a hot and humid attic vented to the outside. With the ductwork open to the outside, there can be such problems as sweating, lower equipment life and depressurization. Garage spaces are not ideal either, as garage air is easily sucked into the home with a turn-on of the furnace. Touring an air-conditioned mechanical room, Risinger points out such features as great access to the equipment, a waterproofed floor with a drain, space for such additional equipment as a dehumidifier, additional ductwork. The room ensures promotes adding equipment in the right way.
