Home Marvin Windows & Doors Factory Tour - Risinger Goes Rogue
Near the Canadian border in Minnesota, there's a Marvin window factory. In this video, Matt Risinger, master builder talks Marvin windows with Christine, the great-granddaughter of the founder of the company. After a tour of the factory, Risinger discusses the craftsmanship and real woodworking that still goes into Marvin windows and the impressive processes behind the windows. The best part of the trip to the facility, according to Risinger, was at the testing facilities where they were able to shoot a 2 x 4 from a cannon at an impact-rated window and then discuss how ratings are achieved on products. As a part of the testing, back pressure is placed on a window and massive winds are unleashed on it. The window must withstand 173-mph winds, in effect a category five hurricane. Then it was on to a spray rack that simulates an 8-inch rainstorm over the course of an hour and then the 2 x 4 is shot out at the window. The testing process is extremely impressive. Marvin windows has all three of the top ratings for windows and the Marvin windows are also known for being air tight, an important factor for a builder that wants to deliver an efficient product to their customers.
