The best equipment can be installed, but if it not maintained, won't keep its edge over the long haul. In this video, Matt Risinger takes us to a conditioned attic, with his temperature humidity pen in hand. The readout is 77.4 degrees and 61% humidity. The purpose of the video is to walk through maintaining an Ultra Air XT 150. While the maintenance to perform is fairly simple, it's still important. Two things must be maintained regularly. On the right side of the unit there's a door that can be removed by pressing down on a button for access to the filter. The 2" pleated media filter is a Merv 11", the standard filter that comes with the unit. There is some visible dirt and every 60 days the filter should be removed and vacuumed. After three times, or six months, the filter should be replaced. The second thing is that needs to be done is every 60 days, pop the condensate drain lid off. This is where the moisture is accumulating. There is a small loop where there is an easy-access port. Drop some white vinegar in to make the environment a bit acidic. Where in the past the recommendation was to use bleach, white vinegar is now the preferred choice. Only use approximately a cup, which will discourage the growth of bacteria.
