Hey guys, Wade here with WKP Construction. This week I have uncovered limewashed framing on an historic renovation project we have underway. Once the home was fully gutted, I noticed that all the interior sides of the exterior wall assembly were white. To an inexperienced eye, some might think it is mold but it is actually a very old technique of painting an interior to brighten up the surroundings. However, limewashing or "whitewashing" was more common on the exterior as limewash is a great fire retardant, antiseptic, antifungal, and odorless paint!
