Home Jumper Ducts - Pressure Balanced Rooms - Video Blog
Master Builder Matt Risinger shares some insight into HVAC systems and the benefits of jumper ducts. A jumper duct refers to a small duct that connects two separate rooms but isn't connected to the HVAC system. Risinger explains how this small addition allows air to flow between rooms more readily. Most houses have one supply register that tries to bring in heated or cooled air, but these houses don't have a good system to let the air back out. You may notice that most houses have gaps under the doors between rooms, which is the only way the air can move out of the room. Risinger points out that in older homes," you may notice a strip of dirt on the carpet under these doors because the carpeting acts as a filter for the air flowing out. In this video you'll learn how the "jumper duct" allows you to maintain the proper amount of airflow in and out of each room.
