Matt Risinger is in Florida for the International Builders' Show, but takes a side trip to meet with building scientist and chemist Ezio Fabrizi, inventor of Polyguard's Poly Wall's Blue Barrier product. They're at a job site in Naples, Florida, where Fabrizi discusses the challenges of the frequently changing harsh Florida climates, including salt air, rain, and hot, dry spells causing water intrusion and mold problems. He wanted to develop a product that could transfer between different materials, and began testing in a home lab more than a decade ago. This resulted in the Blue Barrier product, an innovative, fluid-applied technology for window and door flashings (Blue Barrier 2400) and house wrapping (Blue Barrier 2300). This product uses STPE as the binder or backbone of the product, which was introduced in the '90s as an auto adhesive. Watch the video to hear more from Risinger and Fabrizi.
