HomeInsulation & Air Sealing Strategy utilizing Owens Corning Energy Complete
"Build tight, ventilate right." That's Matt Risinger's motto. He and the team want to make sure that the air is fresh and filtering out all the pests that cause allergies in people. Air leakage is a major source of heating and cooling loss in a home. The only way to resolve this is by air sealing. In this video you'll see how Risinger used Owens Corning's Energy Complete system along with open cell spray foam to create a tight and well-insulated new home in Austin, TX. Remember that this video is geared towards best practice for a hot and humid climate. Not all the strategies employed on this home will be correct for a home in a cold climate. Here we'll get a close-up look at the system, a latex-based product that gets sprayed on the areas where there is a wood-to-wood connection. While spray foam does a great job at air sealing a cavity, this product is made for these connections, made for air sealing specifically and eliminating potential air leaks.
