While it wasn’t in the original plan for this project outside of Austin, Matt’s clients wanted to upgrade a bit, so why not a floating staircase?

Peek at the installation in action and get a behind-the-scenes look at the process, which included two days of demo, one day getting the landing set in the right spot and putting in the stringers.

Included are little plastic rivets to hold the bracket in place. In addition, rise run jigs are used to just slide onto the stair and go up. Next, the staircase will be covered for the drywall team to finish the walls. The stairs are pre-finished in black ahead of time, and touch-up paint can be applied to match everything. Before installing, the team had to rely on an outside staircase, which can be a lot to work with. Still, since the Viewrail floating stairs are prefabricated, it eliminated the waiting of weeks and higher costs associated with having a local welding contractor work on the staircase.
