HomeIBS 2015 - Rheem EcoNet Introduction - Home Automation for your HVAC & Water Heater
Home automation is more than buzzwords. In this video, master builder Matt Risinger reviews the EcoNet at the Rheem booth at IBS. Risinger claims that the product solves a lot of challenges for the homeowner. Home automation automatically makes us think of lighting or other controls. When you view the screen of the EcoNet product, however, we see that 65% of the home's energy use is either from water heating or the furnace. When we control those two things, that's a lot of control, not just for our primary home, but also potentially a vacation home, a rental, or even grandma's. It works by connecting the Rheem furnace and water heater to the EcoNet bridge. The app then gives you control of both. For a water heater, check temperature, change to vacation mode and even get alerts. The water heater, for example, features a leak detection system. When you click on the alert, it tells you exactly what is failing and also provides the contractor's information, enabling a one-click contact to begin the repair process. The contractor, based on the alert code, will have the right parts with them when they arrive.
