HomeHVAC Upgrades for a 25 yr old Austin House. Risinger Homes
In this video, you'll witness the steps Matt Risinger takes to upgrade the performance and efficiency of a 25-year-old home. Just under 500-sq-ft. was added to a room above the existing garage space. The addition serves as a large family room, located in the back of the house. They also enlarged the windows in the existing bedroom to meet current code. All windows are Low-E and high efficiency. On top of the addition, the attic needs some attention as it is not insulated or weather-stripped. In the attic lives the furnace, which will be replaced with an 80 plus percent furnace. The current one is around 65%. The renovation will include a better walkway in the attic. To further insulate the space, they will have to seal the boots to the drywall to make sure that there is no air leakage. The pipes running through the attic have some bad air leaks going through that are leaking CFMs from the conditioned house to the attic. These leaks will also be sealed. Check out the video to see exactly what the remodeled home looks like.
