Home Flawless Paint - 3 Tips From A Custom Builder in Austin TX
Paint brings drama and character to your home, as long as the job looks professionally done. This video provides three tips from master builder Matt Risinger on how to achieve a flawless paint job. First, Risinger bids all of his jobs so that the paint labor and paint materials are billed separately. This prevents the painter from cutting corners on the paint and material quality. He also ensures that the products he wants are used, as invoices come directly to him from paint stores, for the paint and materials, preventing any substitutions.A second tip is in the choice of caulking. Run-of-the-mill caulking costs are approximately $2.25 to $2.50/tube. There are even some at approximately $1/tube. Risinger shows us where he recommends caulking and uses a product called Big Stretch, which costs between $6 and $7/tube. Using this caulking will provide an amazing amount of longevity to the job.A final tip is his use of a powerful 2-ton portable air conditioning unit and a separate dehumidifier that provides constant temperature and humidity levels in the home during the construction phase, similar to what will be in place when the occupants move in. This prevents a rapid drying and deterioration of wood, paint and other construction materials when there is a dramatic change in temperature and humidity.Painting adds drama and character to a home. Using these three tips will mean that the drama and character will still look great years from when the paint is put down. Check out the video to see Risinger walk you through a home where flawless painting can occur.
