Home Exterior Doors MUST have one of these!
In today's video Matt Risinger discusses the importance of sill pans under your doors, not just your windows. You've watched him talk about the importance of sill pans under windows before, but today he takes it a step further. Risinger looks at one of his under construction doors and directs us to the 24-gauge stainless steel pan. Why do this? If the door leaks while using a sill pan, it will leak toward the outside and not inside. When he's all done with the house, he'll cock the pan lip upward to make sure air isn't getting through the bottom. Watch as walks you through the amount of adhesive to use, best practices for shingling, and proper placement of your pan. Where can you find these metal pans? Talk to your roofer, find a dedicated supplier, or even make them yourself. It's not that hard," says Risinger. Watch the full video to find out exactly why sill pans are so important.
