There is a Tyvek DrainWrap product that enables increased drainage behind foam insulation on the home's exterior. It solves the challenge caused by adding more insulation to beef up R values. When more foam is used, there's a risk of rotting the OSB, and more drainage is necessary. In this video, Matt Risinger talks with Mark LaLiberte at an International Builders Show. The discussion goes to two Tyvek products. A new product features corregation and can be installed horizontally or vertically. Just install it onto the building and it allows air flow to move to the back side so that any dampness dries very fast. In addition, Dupont's ThermaWrap R5.0 that combines Tyvek Homewrap with Insulation. 20% of this product is recycled Tyvek and the balance is a polyester base. Attached to the OSB and with the use of the corregated DrainWrap product, water dries very quickly. Installation requires compression and the foam adjusts well so that the R-value is maintained. Applying ThermaWrap takes only one pass around the house.
