Home Does Spray Foam Soundproof a Floor? Lets Test it!
Spray foam? To soundproof a floor? Sounds too good to be true. Matt Risinger puts spray foam to the ultimate test. According to Risinger, spray foam is pretty much ideal for heat transfer, but what about sound transfer from footsteps? To test his theory, he sets up a sound meter and stomps around the upstairs to see how much noise is really transferred. When he talks inside the room, the sound meter is on 60. It appears that stomping creates the same sound level as if someone was talking in the room. Once he works in the spray foam, he tests it again. [Spoiler Alert] As it turns out," spray foam doesn't stand up to the test. Watch the full video to see what happens. It was worth a shot.
