Home Copper vs. PEX Freeze Test (Part 2)
Matt Risinger is evaluating copper press fittings and puts them in a deep freezer to see how they perform compared to traditional sweat-on fittings. The results are surprising! He dives deep into these copper fittings; how they're made and how they are designed to work. The copper with traditional fittings in the freezer didn't really do well. One even blew out. All four press fittings popped out when frozen. The PEX fittings held up a little better but still leaked a little. Maybe consider thicker wall copper if you're plumbing a house (but it's a lot more money) or especially a cabin or a place that isn't going to be conditioned year-round.
