HomeBottom Sill Flashing - Slab to Bottom plate connection
Since houses tend to get sprinkled with irrigation systems and splash back, it makes sense to protect the bottom-most level of the house. Matt Risinger acts as his own cameraman in today's video. Here he's starting the cornice, which is the exterior trim. One of the things he likes to do is protect the bottom skirt of the house. In the example shown here, the first two feet of plywood were in with pressure-treated plywood. Then they moved on to oriented strand board from that point upward. Risinger lets us on one detail he's started using the Carlisle cavity wall. Why is he using it? Because it has a thick membrane and can be stuck into the concrete foundation. Also in the video, the team puts a primer on the wood and concrete so that when it adheres its incredibly tenacious. It will ensure there will be no air infiltration and keep the bottom of the house waterproof and air tight. Watch Matt in this video.
