Mentoring is important to builders and architects that are entering the field. In this video, Matt Risinger, master builder interviews Life of an Architect blog writer, Bob Borson, and asks what advice he has for young architects and young builders that come to the large industry trade shows? It's Borson's opinion that it is easy to become overwhelmed. It's important not to walk away thinking that you've learned everything. It's important to not feel self-conscious or intimidated. If you don't want to talk to booth staff, don't make eye contact. Borson finds that those interested in becoming architects or builders don't necessarily understand that it is about the process, not just the product. It takes serious effort to get to that end product. Borson, for example, is impressed by how far composite materials have come and in their appearance. It's easy now to look at it and it looks just like a Carrara marble, but you would not have the maintenance issues. The new products are consistent in their manufacturing processes," that that's exciting to see.
