It may seem like it may not be needed. Some consider it a waste of time and money. When it comes to basement insulation, I will tell you it is a critical piece of the performance puzzle. If you build or design a less than favorable house, you may be right. BUT……if you choose to design and build a favorable home, well…..you need to watch this video. It’s proportional, as I develop a very good envelope, I need to proportionally develop the thermal control layer in the basement.
