Basement insulation is a code requirement although it isn't enforced as much as it should be. The basement has taken on a new life as a highly desired conditioned space. Basements can be gyms, recreation rooms, and playrooms for the kids, among many other single- and multi-use spaces. Although basements are often thought of as “cheap space," we still need to make sure we get the science right to ensure we have many years of long life, health, and comfort there.
