Initial kitchen designs can prevent open floor plans. In this video, Matt Risinger and architect Cindy Black review a kitchen remodel where this was the case. A big box housing the pantry and a desk, are separating the dining room from the kitchen. The "box" is being removed and a much lower island with cabinetry, new fixtures, and a big limestone top are replacing it. The original owner was a couple and the wife worked as a flight attendant. The kitchen mirrored her experience in an airplane—not a lot of space or floor space. After the remodel completion, the big pantry is gone, new appliances installed, paint, flush edges, a custom stainless-steel sink," a lot of attention to detail. The whole organization of the kitchen has changed and includes a great view of the garden.
