Matt Risinger, master builder is committed to take sealing on his houses, especially given the new energy codes, a lot further than is required. He's used a lot of different approaches to air sealing, however, in this video, he highlights and advantages and necessities of taping exterior seams. The video shows the first time that Risinger is using a product called Siga Wigluv Tape, designed in Sweden. It is sold in 2 ¼" rolls and is fairly expensive. Given that it must stick to plywood and OSB and stick well, he's testing to see if it's worth the price tag.Risinger tests the tape in two ways. Stuck to OSB and plywood on the seam just using the tape and then stuck using primer before putting the tape on the seam. In both cases, it is very difficult to peel off. Risinger is convinced that this is one of those cases of getting what you pay for.
