was the approach we took out at the ranch remodel. In an effort to compliment the many wood details, I decided to design a contemporary rail system for the stairs. This meant stripping the materials to their minimalistic stature , but maintain the strength and structural integrity required. Wood’s strength typically comes from it’s bulky size, so shrinking to very small dimensions took some structural ingenuity.
